Well, today is Troy's birthday - he is 20 years old today and sharing it with all of us on the Ride. Happy Birthday Troy.
On the road ... |
After a reasonably big night, hot pies were the order for breakfast !!
Following the early morning stretch session with Dave Corin, the riders and our wonderful support crew left Uralla and hit the road bound for Bendemeer.
Brad with Billi |
Brad and myself headed back to Armidale to get lunch supplies from Coles and after having a fight with a pensioner about the fact that we took the last "reduced" hot chicken, we left to head back and catch up with the riders.
On the way we came across a tiny little black dog who was running along the middle of the road. Brad was worried it would be run over, so we opened our door and next thing we knew, it had jumped into the car and onto my lap. We soon discovered that it was very well groomed and had a tag on it, saying its name was Billi with a phone number to ring. Of course when we phoned the number nobody was home so we had to turn around and head back into Armidale and find the vet to drop Billi off at - of course before we dropped her into the vet, we took a photo and attached a Camp Quality key ring to her collar!!
Louise with her Snacks !! |
Brad with his Clothes Line in the Trailer |
The riders then took off again to tackle the rest of the road into Bendemeer. Brad and myself went ahead into Bendemeer pub to organise lunch, rooms and cart everyone's bags into their rooms. You can see from the photo how organised our Logistics Brad is - he even has a clothesline rigged up in the trailer for drying shirts through the day - very impressive Brad !!
Lunch at Bendemeer |
Around 1.30 p.m. the riders came rolling into Bendemeer. We had the sandwiches ready and waiting for them and they all tucked in. After this they were back on their bikes to head around to the local School - Bendemeer Public.
This School was SO excited to see us - all 21 of them! The School has 21 kids and 2 teachers so we absolutley outnumbered them. They had held a fun day and were all dressed in bright colours with lots of CQ balloons and had even made cupcakes. And, how nice of them - they had made a birthday card for Troy and had put so much effort in - it was amazing.

Team Sylvania Denis, Dave, Mark & Kemp at Derby Day |
After our visit to the School we headed back to Bendemeer Pub for a bit of rest and relaxtion before our Fun Therapy at 4.30 p.m.
Troy likes to have a little "punt" every now and then so we decided to put on a Derby Day for fun therapy.
Everyone was given jockey hats to wear and we had an awesome afternoon of horse punting with play money - it was great fun and Team Sylvania came in as ultimate winners.
Joker Shirt - Nathan - for falling off his bike !!
King of the Mountains - Sharna - for carving up the mountains
Most Supportive Jersey - Nick - for lending a hand to everyone.
Troy's Birthday Cake |
We then went out to join the locals and have our dinner. The locals were so friendly, extremely generous and we had a great time being around them. Lisa from the pub had even organised an "awesome" cake for Troy's birthday - check it out.
And so it is now around 9.17 p.m. and as I blog most of the riders are gathered around the juke box and pool table enjoying each other's company and really celebrating Troy's birthday. Mark keeps playing Bob Marley on the juke box - I think it's the Red Wine !
They are an absolutely awesome bunch of people, really working as such a wonderful team and working so hard to spread awareness for who Camp Quality is.
