Terrific Tamworth

Wow, today was a really big day.  Everyone was up bright and early for breaky and eager to get on the road bound and ride the 42 kms into Tamworth after an awesome night in Bendemeer.

Today we have another birthday - Nick is 27.

The riders were amazing yet again today.  They looked so good on the road with their bright colours as they conquered the Moonbi ranges and lots of road kill (which was extremely well spotted and advised to all cars by our wonderful "Road Kill Spotter" Louise).

Around 11.30 a.m. we all arrived at Tamworth South Public School to very loud applause - all the kids were dressed in bright Camp Quality colours and were very excited to see us.  The teachers had drawn a massive big drawing of Giggle on the ground in chalk and all the kids had bought in gold coins to put around his face.  They ended up raising $568.00 for us, which was amazing.  They had lots of questions to ask and were very interested in having a ride on the bikes and checking out the riders jerseys.

Following this we headed to Anzac Park for a really yummy BBQ lunch which included home made cakes - thank you Tamworth Rotary, it was awesome.

Thank you Tamworth Rotary

The riders were all getting pretty weary by now, but we still had one more School to visit so on their bikes they got again so we could go and visit Oxley Vale School.  Again there was much interest in the riders and lots of really funny questions.  They were so welcoming and had organised afternoon tea for the riders which was yummy fresh fruit, cakes and slices and hot pastries - one of the slices even had a candle on it for Nick's birthday and they all sang happy birthday to him.

We then left Oxley Vale School and made our way back to the Court House Hotel.  Everyone started to have showers and several had a sleep.  Poor Sophie, I found her in the foetal position laying on top of her opened suitcase almost asleep...

There is no holding Cathy Banks back - she gets into town each night and hits the pavement rattling her bucket for donations for the kids.  She has had lots of helpers though with Carol, Sophie, Sharna, Dave and Keith all lending a hand.

Tonight at Tamworth is Karaoke night so it should be a great night and will be interesting to see just how many singers we have !!  Hopefully there will be lots of people coming along so that our fundraising will go well.  We have hawaiian leis for everyone to wear tonight (just to stand out a little more while we are mingling and singing).  We also have a big Cake to bring out tonight in celebration of Nick's 27th Birthday.

Will update you on more of tonight's shananigans a bit later on.

Tomorrow is going to be a massive day with a 93 km ride into Murrurundi.

Thanks for reading,

Donna. x
